Candid

Hello and welcome back to the blog! I apologize for disappearing for a while. Life got busy but I am back and ready to talk about the thing that I love to do the most-photograph you wonderful individuals. Reality hits when there are tons of things to do but only so many hours in the day. Our schedules sometimes get so full that we don’t get to sit down and reflect as much as we may like to.

What I love the most about what I do is capturing connections authentically. What does this mean? This means that during a couple photo session I am most likely not going to just have you and your significant other look at the camera and smile. We may do a couple of photos like this, but I want to capture your connection with one another. I love what I do because it is about connecting my work to emotions, to the feeling. I love any art that makes me feel something or moves me in one way or another. My vision when I’m behind the camera is showing that love, that silliness, that imperfection of the hair blowing in the wind. I love the real. I love the authentic. I love the connection exactly as it is.

Now sometimes this kind of freaks clients out because they’ll say oh no we’re so awkward…we don’t know how to pose! Don’t worry. I am still going to prompt you on what I want you to do. I won’t just tell you to stand there and show me your connection. I will coach you through what I want you to do to showcase your love and your personalities.

With individual portrait sessions I love capturing someone’s personality…their interests…everything. I love to get the off-guard natural laughter anytime I say something ridiculous (which I apparently do more often than I had thought). Working with clients isn’t just about snapping a quick photo to me. I want to get to know you in the process. I love being able to chat with clients before, during and after their photo session to really get to know them as people. I love how comfortable people are with being open with me about their lives; that can be a little bit vulnerable. I love getting to know each and every one of my clients and many times even building friendships in the process!

Oh you want photographs of your child that absolutely cannot stand being photographed? No need to fret! I have you covered. Let your kiddo play and we will capture their personality through that play! I love watching little ones explore…capturing the laughter…capturing how expressive little kids can be while trying to concentrate on something. It is all adorable and beautiful. It is how you will actually want to remember your child one day rather than having them sit and smile and pose because let’s face it; our children are explorers! Always on the move! And that’s what I’m here to capture…the real life, the authentic…the beauty in things exactly as they naturally exist.

I have to always joke about this because every time my family does photos the candids are the only ones we really get…this is because my boys do not cooperate at all. We don’t get one nice smiling and posed photo. My one year old is leaving the picture, head-butting something or just straight up having a premature terrible-two meltdown. That is the story of our family images! These are the real moments we will remember one day as much as this mama would love just one nice photo to use on a Christmas care and to print for the wall! :)

Reach out if you’d like to get some family, couple or individual images taken! I even like to get some candid, natural smiles during my boudoir sessions because I always tend to say ridiculous stuff at one point or another that gets that authentic laugh out of my clients! I look forward to working with all of you and hearing from all of you! :)
